Data Sources and Scope Definition

1. Data Sources
– List all the data sources that will be used for analysis (databases, files, APIs, etc.)
– For each source, provide details like:
– Source system/application name
– Data owner/custodian
– Brief description of the data
– Data format(s) (e.g., CSV, JSON, SQL tables
– Estimated data volume
– Data refresh frequency (real-time, daily, weekly, etc.- Access methods and protocols

2. Scope of Data Extraction
– Define the specific data elements/fields required from each source
– Specify any filters or criteria for data extraction (date ranges, regions, etc.)
– Outline the historical data requirements (if any)

3. Data Integration Requirements
– Identify the need for joining/combining data from multiple sources
– Specify data transformation rules (e.g., currency conversions, data masking)
– Define the target data structure/model for integrated data

4. Data Quality Considerations
– Discuss known data quality issues and remediation approaches
– Define data quality metrics and acceptance criteria
– Outline data profiling and quality assessment plans

5. Data Security and Privacy
– Address data security and compliance requirements (e.g., Nigeria Data Protection Act, Nigeria Health Act, National Health Insurance Act, GDPR, HIPAA)
– Specify data masking/anonymization needs
– Outline data access controls and authentication mechanisms

6. Infrastructure and Tools
– Describe the data storage and processing environments
– List the data integration and Extraction, Transform, and Load (ETL) tools to be used
– Identify any additional tools for data quality, security, or monitoring

This data sources and scoping section should be reviewed and approved by all relevant stakeholders, including data owners and subject matter experts.
